E-Rally Iceland 2021: Official statement of 5 crews of the FIA ENEC-ERRC / Comunicato ufficiale di 5 equipaggi del Campionato FIA Energie Alternative

(ENG) We will not take part in E-Rally Iceland 2021

Five crews of the “FIA Electric and New Energy Championship – E-Rally Regularity Cup” explain in an official statement their absence in the race that assigns the highest score of the competition.

We are forced to not take part in the E-Rally Iceland 2021 because of the rules for entry in Iceland. Ours is not a protest against anyone, but the mere acknowledgement that the participation in the event is impossible. It must be clear that our esteem for the organizers of one of the most beautiful races dedicated to alternative energies is maximum and remains unchanged. We also thank the organizers that helped us to understand what the Icelandic government requires from those who intend to reach the island.

The main teams at the top of the FIA standings decided by mutual agreement not to face with the bureaucratic and health issues connected with the Icelandic rules for entry. We did this in harmony and friendship to ensure that no crew could profit from the problems of others.

Among us there are people who received a single dose of vaccine, people who have been fully vaccinated less than two weeks and people who are fully vaccinated with vaccines not recognized by Iceland. In all these cases, rules require a swab before the departure, another at the arrival at the airport, five days of quarantine and an additional swab. Only after the result of the last swab you are free, but none of us can stay ten/eleven days away from work.

For this reason the signatories of this document make known the mutual decision not to take part in the fourth race of the FIA Electric and New Energy Championship – E-Rally Regularity Cup that will be held in Reykjavik from July 8 to 10.

(ITA) Non saremo presenti all’E-Rally Iceland 2021
