Se il buongiorno di vede dal mattino…cronaca di una giornata in bianco

Gli ultimi mesi del 2014 saranno ricordati per l’autunno più caldo degli ultimi cento anni, ma l’inverno appena cominciato sembra voler rimettere temperature e precipitazioni nevose nella media storica. Peccato che l’inizio di questa azione di recupero debba avvenire proprio sulle nostre teste nella prima giornata di un viaggio che a proposito di freddo non si farà mancare nulla. Ed ecco l’anteprima: in occasione della pre-partenza istituzionale di sabato 27 dicembre presso la piacevole cornice del Palazzo della Provincia ad Arezzo si scatena l’inferno con pioggia gelata e vento. La prima vera giornata di viaggio vede il Peugeot Expert a metano partire da una gelida Sansepolcro alle 8.00 in punto con raffiche di vento e neve ben in vista nei vicini Appennini. Infatti sarà proprio la E45 ed il valico di Verghereto a far assaggiare agli pneumatici invernali la prima neve stagionale. Quando si mette in conto di raggiungere un luogo come l’Ucraina si è perfettamente consapevoli di andare incontro alle insidie climatiche. Magari non verrebbe da pensare che le stesse insidie ti rendano la vita impossibile già dopo 15 chilometri dalla partenza! Poi passato un valico di quasi mille metri ti rilassi pensando al fatto che in Romagna a zero metri sul livello del mare non dovresti incontrare problemi. Peccato scoprire che pure una strada piatta e priva di dislivelli come la SS309 Romea può, in circostanze quasi uniche, diventare un campo minato con neve e lastre di ghiaccio. Anticipiamo la sosta per rifornirci di metano (0,92 al kg) dopo l’attraversamento del Po. Lo facciamo soprattutto per tirare il fiato dopo una guida decisamente stressante e favorita solo dalla quasi assenza di traffico. Dopo il primo pieno del nostro super serbatoio, che ci può regalare una autonomia di quasi 400 chilometri, eccoci di nuovo in marcia con davanti l’unica speciale tregua metereologica della giornata. Arrivati nei pressi di Chioggia, proprio nel punto dove la strada attraversa la laguna ed è circondata dalle acque, ci fa finalmente un saluto il Sole. Ma l’astro che regala la vita al nostro pianeta non è il solo protagonista, ecco pure l’azzurro del cielo e le innevate Alpi che grazie alla conformazione geografica del litorale adriatico nel nord Italia ci appaiono come un semicerchio che copre 180 gradi di orizzonte. Mai visto niente di simile in tanti anni che percorriamo queste strade! Altra piacevole sorpresa è la fine dei lavori per la terza corsia nella A4 tra Venezia e Palmanova oltre alle frequenze di Radio Birikina che come sempre regalano allegria. Non si può fare a meno di concederci un pranzetto a base di pesce prima di cominciare la scalata del secondo importante valico di giornata, il Tarvisio. La scelta del pranzo come di consueto cade sulla mitica Trattoria Pola ad Ontagnano di Gonars e alla piacevole accoglienza che Sara e Roberta ogni volta ci regalano. Con il senso del gusto soddisfatto riprende il cammino senza intoppi fino alla frontiera con l’Austria. Nella trentina di chilometri che separano l’acquisto della vignetta per il pedaggio autostradale fino al rifornimento di metano di Villach si prosegue a meno di 30 chilometri orari dietro allo spazzaneve. Ebbene si, il versante nord delle Alpi è seriamente colpito dalla bufera con temperature sette gradi sotto lo zero. Un camion bloccato nei cumuli di neve a bordo strada ci costringe a fermarci ed assistere ad uno show di efficienza dei pompieri carinziani. La sosta al metano di Villach (1,064 al kg) è provvidenziale per recuperare energie e per distendere i nervi. Dalla Carinzia alla Stiria la strada ritorna vicino ai mille metri e di nuovo le temperature precipitano in basso costringendoci ad una guida lentissima ed oculata. Tra gli intoppi si aggiunge anche la non disponibilità di metano nella aerea di servizio autostradale vicino a Graz, ma per chi ha alle spalle una realtà come Ecomotori il problema di individuare un punto di rifornimento alternativo è praticamente nullo. Ed eccoci ad un punto di rifornimento a mezzo chilometro dall’autostrada poco a sud della capitale austriaca (1,139 al kg). Le necessità di orario ci costringono ad abolire la sosta cena che viene sostituita con un veloce panino volante con il suggestivo scenario delle migliaia di pale eoliche che si possono ammirare tra Vienna e Bratislava. Di notte la luce rossa di segnalazione aerea, che sembra lampeggiare ogni volta che è oscurata dalle pale, assume un aspetto inquietante, soprattutto quando in lontananza se ne vedono anche una cinquantina apparire e scomparire in modo assolutamente non coordinato. In questo pezzo di ex cortina di ferro della guerra fredda tra l’Austria e la ex Cecoslovacchia oggi si respira aria pulita grazie a questo immenso investimento dedicato alle energie rinnovabili. Infine ecco apparire in lontananza il Castello di Bratislava che come un faro ci guida verso la città che sovrasta. La moderna tangenziale ci fa volare sopra il Danubio che rincontreremo tra circa due settimane e dopo l’acquisto della locale vignetta di pedaggio autostradale ci lanciamo per gli ultimi 50 chilometri della giornata. Prima tappa del viaggio verso l’Ucraina è la città di Trnava che, vista la presenza di numerose chiese e palazzi storici, assume il pretenzioso nome di “Roma slovacca”! L’Hotel Inka, relitto in vecchio stile socialista nel cuore della parte moderna del centro cittadino ospita la nostra meritata notte di riposo. Nella parte di strada percorsa oggi abbiamo potuto comparare i prezzi del carburante di tre nazioni. Inutile dire che l’Italia è la più cara in benzina e diesel, mentre nel Gpl e metano ha prezzi più bassi rispetto ad Austria e Slovacchia. Comunque erano anni che non rivedevamo la benzina e Diesel costare attorno 1,10 euro in quasi tutti i distributori al di fuori della rete autostradale. Da segnalare, invece, come nella costa adriatica abbiamo visto alcuni distributori vendere Gpl a meno di 0,60 al litro.
